These are some installation shots from my piece, “Considerations.” This was installed in the advanced ceramics class’ Light Show last week in DAAP’s 840 gallery.

Ignore the holes! These are merely unfired tests.
This is the third piece I’m exploring - moving away (physically) from the wall and using a set of tiny frames to make up the frame itself. Housed in the middle, safely secluded within, is a relic. Here, I have a bit of one of my grandfather’s shirts. I’m very excited to see where this can go. Should there be more that one? I like that the window is small and sort of invites/requests the viewer to look very closely to see the moment, the bit. The importance.
They could be held together with glaze….or liquid nails…..should there be stitching throughout the frames? Maybe making an oval? Or actually connecting them? I’ll ask my class during midterms…I sort of was imagining them pure white.

Loving how clay picks up underglaze color in its natural nooks and crannies.

This is a new page from my ceramics sketchbook. It’s a list of words that I am (always, continually) thinking about; words that heavily influence and drive my work; words such as domesticity, protection, nostalgia, memory, yearning, lonesome, evocative, tenuous, history, story, beauty, narrative…..

Relic.

Whole.
